“Champagne is one of the elegant extras in life.” Charles Dickens
When I mentioned to a close friend of mine that I was working on creating the ahngreatlife.com website, he asked me if it will include blogs. When I said yes, he got all excited, stating that I have write something personal about myself. He felt I should shock people a little bit. Hmmm, what a dilemma. I’m a pretty open book, a little dramatic by nature but not particularly into pulling the let’s-shock-them card.
At the time of writing this piece, I happen to be in an incredibly fantastic mood. I just finished 3 back to back regression hypnosis sessions, 3 days in a row. And let me tell you, my heart is beaming rainbow light of pure joy. I really do love my job and my life! Since I don’t really have any secrets, I opt to share with you one of my personal passions. Champagne!!!
Champagne is a happy drink. The bubbles make me feel like celebrating. I only ever drink champagne when I’m in the lightest of moods and my schedule allows it. There was quite a long stint in my 20s when I was either pretty much drunk most of the time or recovering from a bad stammer. During those stages, as far as I could avoid it, I did not touch champagne. Back then, I was also deeply unhappy on a pretty much consistent basis.
“I drink champagne when I’m happy and when I’m sad. Sometimes I drink it when I’m alone. When I have company I consider it obligatory. I trifle with it if I’m not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise, I never touch it — unless I’m thirsty.” Lily Bollinger – House of Bollinger Champagne
At a point, I was a junior restaurant manager. I helped start up this really super, incredibly awesome, fine dining space, called LUSH. Never have I ever been so overwhelmed in my entire life. Yet, I have never before been so fantastically alive either. My mentors were strict, but goodness they were amazing. Here, I also gained an in-depth appreciation for wine from a lady I am honoured to call a personal friend, Katie Barratt founder of awesome Cape Town based Wine Fairy. She taught me so much about champagne and the beauty of wine created with passion, knowledge, skill, experience and a lightness of soul. Here is a link to her Wine Fairy SA Instagram Page.
Making wine, for the winemaker, is a spiritual experience. Fashion, for the fashionista, creates similar elation. Other soul palettes prefer food, music, colour and sound. The spiritual experience is different for everyone. We are meant to be different, because we are all part of the full orchestra of life, that compliments each other. The trombone is not more powerful than the triangle. Each serves their own perfect purpose and that keeps the harmony flowing. Drinking champagne is how I celebrate that flow. It’s like kissing my perfect dream partner in the rain – very romantic comedy, LOL.
Now you know something a bit more personal about me. In the comments, I welcome learning more about you too. I welcome your stories, finding out the things that makes your soul smile. Just don’t get freaky. Let’s connect with each other from the heart space of pure divine love. Remember to check out the Wine Fairy website
